I am a second 2^nd Year British Heart Foundation-Funded PhD student in the Roberts’ Group, LICAMM, Faculty of Medicine and Health. My project is exploring fatty acid chain-length selection in the skeletal muscle of patients with the comorbidity known as diabetic heart failure. We are planning to use metabolomics to explore how acyl carnitines, TCA cycle metabolites, and fatty acid chain lengths change during diabetic heart failure compared to heart failure or Type 2 diabetes alone.
